The Sun Records Story is the official and exclusive touring show of the famed Memphis-based record label that launched the careers of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and many more! A truly unique and amazing musical theatre experience, "The Sun Records Story" is a two-act play that dramatizes the amazing-but-true story of the birth of Rock & Roll in the nineteen fifties.
Act One is set in the legendary Sun Studio in nineteen fifty-four under the watchful eye of eccentric producer Sam Phillips, and allows the audience to watch, listen and learn the recording secrets behind classic songs such as "I Walk The Line" "That's All Right Mama" "Blue Suede Shoes" and "Whole Lotta Shakin' ."
Act Two is full of great music and laughs! Set in nineteen fifty-six, the Sun Records Story re-creates a radio broadcast of "The Louisiana Hayride" featuring the "Sun Record All-Stars" (Presley, Cash, Lewis and Perkins)...but also includes a surprise appearance by a young Roy Orbison, complete with fifties era radio commercials, fan-mail, wacky stunts and great music. If you love Rock & Roll and want to find out just how it all started, and have a good time, then you better grab your mom, your guy, your gal, your kids and come on down the Clarke Theatre because there’s a-gonna be a real jamboree!
