Curtis Pope

Weekdays: Noon to 6pm - Saturday 6am - 10am

Curtis isn’t your typical country boy! Growing up on the sunny plains of Richmond, riding his BMX bike while wearing a ball cap backwards doesn’t exactly sound like a cowboy upbringing.

Curtis did grow up listening to country music, from Waylon and Willie, Cash and The Hag to Alabama and Randy Travis. Curtis spent his teen years as a long haired rocker listening to a lot of bands with more hair then talent before Travis Tritt and Garth brought him back to country music. Eventually Curtis ended up working  at a country station in Prince George. After 6 1/2 years in PG it was time to pack up the family and move back to the Lower Mainland. When he’s not on the air you can usually find Curtis playing with his kids, spending time with his gorgeous wife or cheering on the Canucks or the St Louis Cardinals.

Remembrance Day

Posted on by curtis.pope

Remembrance Day is Sunday. I do what I can to make sure those around me understand the significance of the day. There is some history of military service in my family , not enough to be considered tradition by any stretch but many have served. My great grandfather died in battle in WW1, my Opa was a medic.and various uncles and cousins have also served our country. The closest I’ve ever come to service was when a recruiter tried to recruit me when i was 18 in a mall in Vancouver. Despite my personal lack of service I have the utmost respect for those who choose to serve our country, I’d like to introduce you to Bill Gordon.

Giggle Dam Fun Raiser !

Posted on by curtis.pope

Yesterday we got word that the the Fun Raiser had officially sold out, needless to say that was pretty awesome to hear. Things got underway at 4:30 and it was pretty cool to see the line up of folks around the building waiting to get in even if it was pouring rain at the time. The staff are all decked out in 80′s gear so skinny jeans , neon and leg warmers are everywhere. Quite a few folks dressed up in their best 80′s wear  too which was cool. The show was hilarious and the cast are so amazing. It takes a lot of talent to do what these folks do and the love they have for what they do is contagious. The 80′s theme, the costumes and the music are really cool but maybe I’m a little biased as the show covered off a good chunk of my childhood/teen years. The main focus of the night was to get out and have fun but we were there to raise some funds for the Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. We’re waiting for the final tally but we’re looking at somewhere around $10,000 raised which is like totally awesome ! ok I guess the 80′s theme is still kinda stuck in my head. A huge thanks to the the folks at the Giggle Dam , Charter Bus Lines and everybody who came out to make this such a success.  From left to right you’ll find Scott Riley from Star 98.3 , Blaze Hammer, Lisa Stevens from Star 98.3, Jeffrey Theissen from Canuck Place and me
