Head-of-the-Fort-poster-2015High school, university, and community rowing clubs from across the lower mainland will be in Fort Langley on Saturday for the annual Head of the Fort Regatta, hosted by the University of the Fraser Valley.

UFV rowing coach Liz Chisholm  says the event generally draws a pretty good crowd and says the bridge over Bedford channel is the best viewing spot.

She says rowing races are quite the spectacle to see in person.

“It’s a long race, but from Fort Langley and the bridge you can see the entire race. The other aspect is people don’t always realize how fast the rowing shell can move with some good strong people in it. So it’s really neat to see that kind of speed on the water with these little skinny boats.”

There will be three launches on Bedford Channel, starting at 9:30.
