canucks(Submitted by Denise Wong) The Vancouver Canucks are still alive after pulling off a desperately-needed Game 5 win against the Flames last night at Rogers Arena.

The win had people in better spirits than they were 24 hours ago.

“I had a really good feeling going into it. I felt that they did a great job and I’m just really positive going forward. They’ve got to do it two more times but they’ve done it before,” says one fan.

But with the team still trailing 3-2, some of you are still a little more cautious.

“We’ll see what the story tells but at least they have one more and hopefully they won’t get snuffed out in the next couple games,” says another fan, who wasn’t the only one who stopped short of pronouncing them Cup champs in waiting.

“I think whoever wins this series is going to be in trouble in the next one anyway but you never know. I felt them to be a little bit slow, a little bit sluggish. They did win but, not a good chance they’ll finish it off this season. This will probably be the end coming up,” says another standing nearby.

Some fans are taking a big-picture view, preferring to look long-term.

“If we don’t go all the way this year, I’ve got faith because of Trevor Linden,” says a fan celebrating the victory on the street.

Others are just plain happy.

“I’m not a Canucks fan but it’s always great to see the city, the city is alive when it happens. Businesses thrive and that’s the most important thing. I love this city. It’s the most beautiful city in the world and as long as everybody else is happy, I’m happy too,” says another man.

The two teams travel today but will do it all again tomorrow at 6 p.m. (Pacific) in Calgary.
