Ambulance outside a hospitals emergency entrance, Vancouver, Canada. The mayor of Mission says people are being put at risk because there isn’t enough ambulance coverage on the roads.
Randy Hawes says ambulances frequently show up to emergencies well after other first responders.

“We’re aware that there has been a couple of times where there has been deaths as a result because the ambulance was late….could they have been avoided? Who knows…but, maybe.”

Hawes feels one of the major problems is how much time ambulances stay at hospitals, dealing with patients they’ve dropped off.
He wonders why some paramedics can’t stay at the hospital to treat minor injuries, while the rest of the paramedics continue to respond to other calls.
