20150504_122730[1] 20150504_122943[1]The City of Abbotsford honored two amazing organizations on Monday to launch palliative care week.

Flags for both the Abbotsford Hospice Society and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice will fly at City Hall all week to recognize the great work those groups do.

Canuck Place in Abbotsford manager Karina Chow says it’s important to raise awareness about what kind of choices and options are available for parents with ill children.

“Many people are not aware of what Canuck Place has to offer and how we support over 500 families and children in BC. And we really want people to understand that that option is there, and we provide really supportive loving integrated care for the children and families.”

Marion Keyes from the Abby Hospice Society says adult hospice care is becoming increasingly more important in our society.

“Not everyone has the support of family group that we used to have in times gone by. And also with the ageing baby boomers, palliative care is increasingly a very important issue in all communities across Canada.”

The Abbotsford Hospice Society has been providing services for terminally ill adults since 1986.
