On Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at 5:50 pm, the Abbotsford Police Department was contacted regarding a serious assault of a 26-year-old woman that took place on June 26, 2016. The incident was investigated by APD’s Patrol Division, Forensic Investigation Section and the Major Crime Unit. The result was the arrest and charge of a 30-year-old male suspect.

During the investigation, it was determined that the victim was assisted by persons who have not been identified and have not provided statements to police. These people acted as Good Samaritans and provided comfort and support to the victim. A male and female couple located the victim outside a hotel in the 32000 block of Marshall Road. They provided her with assistance and transported her to a convenience store in the 32300 block of Marshall Road. At that location, the victim was further assisted by another male who ultimately transported her home. All of the witnesses are described as being in their 50’s or 60’s, the couple was driving an SUV and the male drove a 4-door sedan.

APD investigators would like to speak to these witnesses. We would obviously like to take statements from them, but we would also like to thank them for getting involved in a difficult situation and for helping a person who really needed assistance.
